Today, Dec. 7, Ed Sheeran visited the Buckingham Palace to receive an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) medal.
He was presented with the medal by Prince Charles, who stood in place of Queen Elizabeth. Since Sheeran wasn’t knighted or named Sir, the ceremony was rather casual. According to Billboard, the singer-songwriter ended up chatting afterwards with Prince Charles.
Sheeran mentioned what they spoke about:
“He was asking me if I was still selling lots of records, and I told him I’ve got a concert in New York tomorrow. He was quite surprised I was flying after this.”
