While this should be obvious already, police will arrest you if they know you purchased illegal drugs. However, a 49-year-old man named Douglas Kelly clearly missed the memo and is now paying the price…
According to CNN, Kelly called the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week asking for help.
What was wrong?
He bought meth from a local dealer, but he thought the substance he received was not actually meth. He had a bad reaction to the drugs and now wanted the police to test their quality. Even more, if it was not real meth, he wanted to press charges against his dealer.
Unsurprisingly, the police were happy to help, and they described what happened on their Facebook page:
“In an effort to ensure the quality of the drug the suspect purchased, detectives told Kelly if he came to the sheriff’s office they could test the narcotic he purchased.”

So, Kelly drove down to the station, handed over his drugs, and waited for the results. As it turns out, the test came back positive for meth. Unfortunately for Douglas Kelly, police then arrested him for possession.
However, the department is still happy to help anyone that wants to test the quality of their drugs. They explained:
“If you believe you were sold bad drugs, we are offering a free service to test them for you. Remember, our detectives are always ready to assist anyone who believes they were misled in their illegal drug purchase.”
