On Saturday, April 7th, Sacramento Republic FC is partnering with Wide Open Walls to host Paint the Park: A Celebration of Sacramento Art.
Over 50 local artists will come together and paint the fence scrim surrounding Papa Murphy’s Park. You can apply for one of those spots HERE (Deadline Mar. 30).
Judges will be there to award the three best paintings, and give a $1,000 cash prize to the sole winner.
The club plays Seattle Sounders FC 2, and a portion of ticket sales from the match will be donated to Wide Open Walls, which is an annual mural festival celebrating the history of Sacramento’s street art.
Republic FC COO Ben Gumpert says
“We’re excited to partner with Wide Open Walls to showcase Sacramento’s diverse and growing art community. Paint the Park is an opportunity to use our platform with our fans to celebrate the work of our local artists who play an integral role in growing Sacramento as a world-class region.”
David Sobon, who founded Wide Open Walls, adds
“SRFC has long been a champion of local artists and by highlighting new artists and new works of art to a vast audience of soccer fans, they are speaking directly to our festival’s mission of art for all.”
