DeMarcus Cousins may not play for the Sacramento Kings anymore, but he’s still cares for the community.

According to Bleacher Report, the basketball star is reportedly offering to pay for the funeral of Stephon Clark.

Clark was a Sacramento resident who was shot to death by police officers in his grandmother’s backyard on Sunday. His death sparked protests on Thursday night around the Golden 1 Center prior to a Kings game.

Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive gave an address regarding the protests following the Kings’ win, saying:

“We at the Kings recognize your people’s ability to protest peacefully, and we respect that. We stand here before you, old, young, black, white, brown, and we are all united in our commitment.”

He also added:

“We recognize that it’s not just business as usual, and we are going to work really hard to bring everybody together to make the world a better place, starting with our own community, and we’re going to work really hard to prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again.”

This is not the first time DeMarcus Cousins has made an offer of this nature; in 2015, he also offered to cover the funeral costs of high school student Jaulon Clavo after his shooting death.
