Woman Fined $500 For Keeping Free In-Flight Snack
When Delta passenger Crystal Tadlock took the free in-flight snack off her flight, she ended up getting hit with a surprising $500 fine when going through Customs.

Although you may think the snacks you get while flying are free, they may cost you if you’re exceptionally unlucky. Unfortunately for Delta passenger Crystal Tadlock, she is now one of those unlucky few…
According to the New York Post, Tadlock recently flew from Paris to the U.S. where she lives. During her Delta flight, flight attendants passed out bags of apples as a free snack. Tadlock, who was not hungry at the time, decided to save the apples for the second leg of her trip.
However, when she landed in the U.S., a Customs agent randomly selected her bag for inspection. After questioning her on the apples inside, Tadlock explained where she got them and asked if she could eat or throw them away. Unfortunately, the Customs agent refused and fined her for $500 for carrying undeclared fruit.
Tadlock explained to Fox 31 Denver:
“He had asked me if my trip to France was expensive and I said, ‘Yeah.’ I didn’t really get why he was asking that question, and then he said, ‘It’s about to get a lot more expensive after I charge you $500.’”
While the fine is bad enough, the incident could have even greater ramification for Tadlock; she could also lose her Global Entry Status, which “allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to have expedited clearance into the US,” according to the New York Post.

She feels that Delta shouldn’t pass out fruit to international travelers, or at the very least warn them not to take it off the plane. Tadlock told Fox 31:
“It’s really unfortunate someone has to go through that and be treated like a criminal over a piece of fruit.”
While they have yet to directly address the situation with Crystal Tadlock, a Delta spokesperson did tell Fox News:
“We encourage customers to adhere to US Customs and Border Protection policies and requirements.”
