At this very moment, a hurricane is crashing into the North and South Carolina coast line over on the east coast. There have been mandatory evacuations, flooding, and wind damage. People have had to drop everything and leave, including vacation plans and weddings.

This couple in particular was set to get married on this coming Sunday, the 16th. Their location was set to be on the Outer Banks. That’s a string of islands off the coast of North Carolina. The hurricane has been crashing down on those islands for the last 18 hours or so, leaving significant damage and power outages there. Obviously, they had to make new plans, along with hundreds of thousands of other people from the area.

The couple spent time frantically trying to find a place on short notice. They eventually settled on – get this – Hurricane, West Virginia, where they live full-time. They got in touch with the mayor of the town, Mayor Scott Edwards. Mayor Edwards said that he would actually host the wedding for the couple in the City Hall there. It will also be the first wedding ever held in the City Hall.

Obviously this story is a light-hearted distraction from all the devastation happening there. But we like to pick some of the good news to talk about, rather than all the negative. Hopefully this story made you laugh a little bit. Here’s the original story and some more info about the couple, and town.
