Looks like it’s the end of an era. Chelsea Peretti took to Twitter to announce her Brooklyn Nine-Nine exit.
The comedian has been a part of the original cast since the first episode as Gina Linetti. She told fans that she won’t be returning for the full upcoming sixth season. “But that doesn’t mean I won’t ever be back, winky face emoji, heart emoji,” she promised.
Peretti then went on to use Emmy Rossum’s Shameless exit letter to explain her own leave from B99. “It is hard for me to know exactly what to say,” she wrote. “Perhaps Emmy Rossum said it best when she wrote about Shameless (I bolded the extra relevant parts in her quote below).”
The cast and crew of Brooklyn Nine-Nine went through quite a scare last year after Fox dropped the show. Fortunately, NBC came to the rescue and renewed the series for its sixth season. According to PopCulture, it’s expected to return early in 2019.
