Awkwafina To Be First Asian Woman Hosting ‘SNL’ In 18 Years

Awkwafina is set to host Saturday Night Live on Oct. 6 with musical guest, Travis Scott. This marks the first time an Asian woman has hosted the show in nearly 20 years!
The Crazy Rich Asians actress will be hosting the second episode after the premiere with Adam Driver and Kanye West on Sept. 29. This is the first time that both Awkwafina and Scott are appearing on the program.

According to Bustle, Lucy Liu was the last Asian woman to host SNL back in Dec. 16, 2000. “Supremely stoked for this,” Awkwafina wrote of her hosting gig on her Instagram.
Starting off as a rapper on YouTube, Awkwafina recently stepped into the limelight with her performances in Ocean’s 8 and Crazy Rich Asians.
