Anne Hathaway revealed that there is an official script for a new Princess Diaries movie, waiting to be made.
According to People, Hathaway shared that this new film would follow the original film and its 2004 sequel. The script reportedly also includes Julie Andrews, who would be returning to her iconic role as Hathaway’s royal grandmother.
“There is a script for the third movie,” Hathaway confirmed. “I want to do it. Julie wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen. It’s just we don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it.”
Production for this third film may have been delayed, after the original director of the movies, Gary Marshall, passed away in July 2016. In July of 2017, the author of the Princess Diaries book series, Meg Cabot spoke on the possible new film. She shared how this new film could be made as a sort of tribute to Marshall.
