Happy first weekend of fall! We made it through another work/school week! Time to take advantage of another gorgeous weekend and hit the town with your family and friends! There are so many cool, family-friendly, free events going on this weekend around our city! Before you plan your weekend, check out which events I curated worth checking and knowing about! Here’s your Sactown 411!

PARK(ing) Day

When/Time: Friday, September 21, 10am-7pm

Where: 20th Street between J and K Streets

PARK(ing) Day is back this year! The ASLA California Sierra Chapter has organized this FREE, family-friendly event apart of an annual worldwide event where artists, designers, and citizens transform metered parking spots into a series of temporary parks. 20th Street between J and K Streets will be transformed into a collection of mini-parks designed by the local community from 10am-7pm! Latin Dance Night

When/Time: Friday, September 22, 7p-10:30p

Where: Old Sac, Riverfront

Dance on the Edge will host FREE Latin dance night with a DJ and FREE Salsa dance lessons at 7pm. Get more info HERE!

Sports 1140 KHTK Sports Fest 2018

When/Time: Saturday, September 22nd, 11 A.M. – 5 P.M.

Where: Roosevelt Park 1615 9th St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Meet and take photos with Sports Stars like Mike Bibby, Vlade Divac, Urijah Faber, Darrick Martin, Doug Christie, Kosta Koufos, Derrek Lee, Kenny Thomas, Greg Vaughn, Bonzi Wells and more at our first ever Sports Fest 2018! Enjoy sports activities and games for the entire family. Try your hand at announcing a basketball game at our the Sports 1140 Play By Play Game and the Sports 1140 Talk Show Booth. Plus, Sacramento’s best food trucks will be on site with mouth-watering tailgate food, plus craft beers and cocktails for adults 21 and over. Get more info HERE!

Folsom Live

Apple Hill

When/Time: Now– Dec 24, 2018/ Daily 8:30am – 5:30pm

The Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival

When: Sunday, October 7 / 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM

Where: 9950 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95624

Come together with friends and family at the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival, one the largest family festivals in the area. This event will be having a pumpkin food court, recipe contest, giant pumpkin boat races, kid’s live entertainment, and more events to enjoy!

JDRF One Walk

When/Time: October 7, 2018, Check-in: 8:00 AM Starts: 9:00 AM

Where: California State Capitol – 1000 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA 95814

Help us make a difference while having fun, at this 5K walk with your friends, family, and community! Type 1 diabetes is a disease that affects both children and adults, and there is currently no cure. By joining us on the walk, you’ll raise money to help find breakthroughs, in order to give hope to those affected. Get more info & register HERE!

Downtown Chowdown

When/Time: Saturday, October 20, 2018, 11:00am – 5:30pm

Where: Capitol Mall (3rd and Capitol through 5th and Capitol) Downtown Sacramento

Our annual Downtown Chowdown – Where Music & Food Collide – on Saturday, October 20th at Capitol Mall. You’ll enjoy performances from: X Ambassadors, Sheila E., and Chris Janson! We are taking over Capitol Mall and filling 3 blocks with over 40 food trucks and vendors featuring delicious food including Street Tacos, Gyros, BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Seafood, Gourmet Treats and more. In addition, the entire family will enjoy interactive vendors and games. This is an all-ages show.
