Back when Wendy Williams was a radio DJ, she suffered a serious cocaine addiction.

“I was a functioning addict though,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I report to work on time, and I’d walk in and all my co-workers, including my bosses, would know but since I would have my headphones on and walk in the studio and [they] wouldn’t fire me because I was making ratings.”

Williams was on the radio in New York and Philadelphia before landing her talk show in 2008. She battled drug addiction for ten years.

“[A] functioning addict has several alarm clocks, you’re organized,” she continued. “It’s a miracle I was able to stop.”

In 2014, Williams opened the Hunter Foundation with her husband, Kevin Hunter, and son, Kevin Hunter Jr. The organization helps those who have been affected by drug abuse.
