Toys R Us Mascot Won’t Be Unemployed For Long [VIDEO]
Geoffrey the Giraffe has been the Toys R Us mascot for years, and it looks like he may be sticking around as another mascot.

As you’re all aware, Toys R Us has finalized their shutdown. All stores have closed every single store as of the end of last week. Their mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe was pictured standing in an empty store, wearing a Hawaiian button-up. The part that really hit me hard was that he was carrying some luggage, like he was going on vacation. Here’s that shot:
Well, Geoffrey might have a new job lined up after all, if everything goes to plan. A zoo has asked Toys R Us to donate the rights to Geoffrey. They intend to use Geoffrey as a sort of mascot aimed to help protect giraffes. In a quote from CNN, “The zoo believes Geoffrey now could use his celebrity to inspire future generations to protect giraffes, whose populations are estimated to be at less than 100,000 worldwide. This loss can be largely attributed to poaching, habitat loss and habitat fragmentation.” The zoo has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money, which will be donated to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
