Taylor Swift is smart. She knows the business, and she has some seriously powerful people behind her who know even more about the business. She’s covering all angles, and taking advantage of everything she can, including trademarking phrases – and her signature too.

Her company, called “TAS Rights Management, LLC,” is filing the paperwork on her behalf. She’s getting – or trying to get – a trademark on the phrase “Big Reputation,” which of course is a lyric in her new song “End Game” with Ed Sheeran. Long story short, she wants to put the phrase on merchandise: t-shirts, phone cases, bags, gloves – the works. She’s also trying to get a trademark on her own signature so she can use it on merchandise as well, but more on things like bathrobes, hair pins, glow sticks, basically anything, really.

She’s been selling her merchandise for a while, but it looks like she’s trying to make it more difficult for other brands to sell rip-off items, making her more of a sole-source for anything T. Swift.

Check out some more details as well as some pictures of Taylor’s merch here.
