Uh oh! The Sacramento Bee is warning subscribers who activated their online accounts prior to 2017 that their names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers have been exposed. This may affect up to 53,000 current and former Bee subscribers. Yikes!

The local newspaper’s databases on a third-party computer server were seized last month by an anonymous hacker who demanded a ransom in Bitcoin. Another database containing California voter registration data was also exposed. The ransom was not paid, while the databases were deleted to prevent further attacks.
