Miley Cyrus launched a Facebook fundraiser with her Happy Hippie Foundation in order to help reunite migrant families. She raised nearly $30,000 on the first day.

The fundraiser started on Monday, June 25, with a goal set at $35,000, reports Wonerwall. It should be easy to reach that goal, as the current raised amount sits just over $29,000. The singer wrote on the Facebook page:

“Happy Hippie and I believe EVERYONE has the right to be with their families and deserves a safe place to call their home. Thousands of migrant children remain detained and separated from their families RIGHT NOW.”

“These are children and families who are escaping violence in their home countries and want a future where they can be safe and together,” she continued. “Join me in supporting KIND, a nonprofit working to protect the basic rights of unaccompanied children in the United States. Funds will be used to get families legal representation so they can be reunited.”
