BTS came seeming out of nowhere, and they took the world by storm. Their careers skyrocketed in exposure and popularity. Before you knew it, they were getting requested on radio shows all over the world. They have also developed some of the most devoted fans I’ve ever seen.

It was only another matter of time before they started breaking records held by other huge pop stars. Taylor Swift is the latest artist to get “dethroned” on YouTube. Specifically, the “Most Viewed within 24 Hours” title. When Taylor Swift released “Look What You Made Me Do” on YouTube, the music video received 43 million views in just the first 24 hours. BTS just smashed that record by gaining an additional 13 million views on top of that, for a total of 56 million views. In just the first 24 hours. That’s absolutely astonishing. The song is called “Idol.”

The video dropped on August 24th, and currently (Aug 27th, 7:50am) has just about 83 million views now. BTS’s other hit song “Fake Love” dropped in May, receiving only 35 million views in its first 24 hours. Taylor Swift’s video for “Look What You Made Me Do” released exactly one year ago, and currently has about 955 million views in total.
