A huge, and I mean huge, new water park with new water slides is coming to Northern California, and construction is starting very soon.

This place sounds pretty fun. It’s coming to Manteca, just south of Stockton. It’s an indoor water park and resort-style hotel. When I say huge park, I mean huge – it’s a 95,000 square foot indoor water park. PLUS another 45,000 square foot “adventure” area.

It’s called Great Wolf Lodge. It’ll be the second location in California, with the first being in the south outside of Anaheim. The basic idea of the place is that it’s a massive structure. Within the structure are 500 hotel rooms, and their park areas. The water park, the 95,000 square foot one, contains most of the water activities, obviously. There are water slides, a log ride, heated pools, splash areas, a ton of stuff to do. If you grew up here, you know about the Manteca Waterslides that closed in 2004.

The 45,000 square foot adventure area has a bunch of other games and activities. That section is called “Great Wolf Adventure Park.” That has more “dry” activities, like a robe bridge climbing section, arcade games, and a mini-golf course. It’s definitely a cool sounding spot to bring the family for a weekend getaway. And with it being just south of Sac outside of Stockton, it’s not a terrible drive either, and a weekend getaway would be easy.

It’s expected to bring a lot of cash into the Manteca area from the increased tourism, and will provide around 600 jobs to the area as well. Construction hasn’t officially started yet, but they expect the lodge to be complete sometime around summer 2020. A long time to wait, especially since there have been rumors of this coming to the area for the better part of 5 or 6 years now. But the plans are in place, and construction is starting soon. Here’s more information on the lodge.
