Gigi Hadid recently posed for the cover of Vogue Italia in what appears to be blackface. Many were quick to call out both her and the publication.

The model’s skin tone is noticeably darker than usual in the picture. Vogue provided a sneak peek of the cover on its official Instagram.

One user commented:

“This is blackface. How anyone thought this was okay is beyond me. They made you look like a black woman instead of getting a black woman to pose for the cover or letting your natural skin show. This is nowhere close to okay.”

Another said:

“What is this? Why are you so dark? Looks almost like a black woman and ABSOLUTELY NOT you. You, beautiful yes, the concept, the editing, the amount of tan /skin touching in this picture? Not.”

As Pop Culture states, this isn’t the first time that Gigi Hadid and Vogue Italia have been accused of blackface. In a cover back in 2015, the model had noticeably darker skin while sporting a blue-colored afro hairstyle.
