The First American Woman To Land A Triple Axel In The Olympics [VIDEO]

The triple-axel, a move successfully accomplished just twice before has a new master from America in the Winter Olympics.

It’s happened just twice before, and neither of those two samples were from Team USA. Mirai Nagasu has just become the first American Olympic Athlete to land a triple axel in figure skating, which is easier to understand when you see the video. A triple axle is when you jump and make a full 3-and-a-half rotations in the air, land, and continue without falling. We’ll just play the video:

We have to say, the commentators are the best part. All she could say was “Holy cow!” Luckily no sensor bleeps were necessary during that performance though, but “holy cow?” We haven’t hear that since we watched “The Simpsons” back in 2003, right? But hey, huge, big, massive congratulations to Mirai Nagasu – it would be a miracle just for use to stand up on the ice nevermind do anything remotely as elegant as that move. My ankle twisted just from watching the video. Wow.
