They’re saying that this new burger will literally give you nightmares. No word on what it does to your poop though, like the drink they just released too. Burger King actually worked with sleep doctors when they were developing the burger. The new burger is called the Nightmare King, and we’ll get to why it’s called that soon.

See, Burger King actually did some research when they were coming up with this new burger. In the form of “a scientific study over 10 nights with 100 participants (or should we say victims?) who ate the Nightmare King before they went to bed.” The results of that research has made a burger that they claim is “clinically proven to induce nightmares.” How does this whole thing work? We’ll get into that, but let’s talk about how it looks and what’s in it first. It comes on a green bun this time, not black like that last one. You get a quarter-pound of beef, a chicken filet, and bacon. With all that, mayonnaise, cheese, and onion. It comes out on Monday the 22nd, and runs through November 1st.

How about this sleep study and nightmare nonsense? Burger King partnered with a sleep clinic in Florida. They studied how people sleep after eating this burger. Earlier research found that out of the entire population in the world, about 4% of us have nightmares “on any given night.” After studying how people sleep after eating this burger, the sleep doctors determined that the burger made people about 3-and-a-half times more likely to have a nightmare. Lead research doctor Jose Gabriel says “According to previous studies, 4 percent of the population experiences nightmares in any given night… But, after eating the Nightmare King, the data obtained from the study indicated that the incidence of nightmares increased by 3.5 times.”

Are you at all interested in trying this out? I wonder how the psychological aspect works. Like, if you think you’ll have a nightmare after eating it, you will. Or if there’s really something in the food that induces nightmares. I’m sure that’s not the case, the FDA would be all over it. Still a clever marketing tactic though.
