In a heartfelt show of support and love, Avicii posthumously won Song of the Year at Sweden’s Rockbjornen award ceremony. His father, Klas Bergling, accepted the award on his son’s behalf.

Bergling made his first public appearance in order to accept the fan-voted award for “Without You,” featuring Sandro Cavazza. He delivered an emotional message of gratitude to all the fans for their overwhelming support.

“I am happy to have been given the opportunity to be here tonight to say thank you for this amazing award that you have rewarded Tim [Bergling, Avicii’s real name] and Sandro, and to everyone of you who have voted for ‘Without You,’ an amazing song,” he said, according to Music-News.

“But also, and perhaps foremost,” he continued. “to say thank you for all and every amazing tribute you have given Tim and his music. From all his fans and others, from churches, schools, festivals and so many more. It’s been almost incomprehensible and it has warmed our hearts, all of the family, during this hard time, so again a big thank you to everyone.”

News of the producer’s apparent suicide shook the music world on Apr. 20. He died at age 28, and was buried in a private ceremony in Stockholm in June.
